We drew closer to Blossom Island while Mac consulted his map.

"There's anchorage around that point," he said, nodding at the outcropping. "That's where we're headed."

We dropped anchor in the small cove, the water beautiful and still, thanks to the shelter provided by the crescent-shaped cove.

"This is gorgeous,” I said once he'd given me the okay that everything was secure.

"You haven't been here?"

I shook my head. "No, I think the cruise turned me off boating for a few years."

"Well, you've obviously been missing out."

"Hundred percent," I agreed, sighing once again at the stunning water and picturesque private beach.

"Lunch?"

"Sounds good."

Mac set up a small rug on the deck, the sail providing partial shade. Between us, I laid out sandwiches and soda, with brownies and Tupperware cups filled with a mix of berries for dessert.

"I could get used to this," Mac muttered around a bite of his Rueben sandwich. "Though I thought you didn't eat cow?"

"I don't. I'm having chicken. But Gunnar mentioned a Rueben was your favourite so I brought some meat home for you." I caught his stare. "What?"

He shook his head. "Nothing… just… thanks."

I shrugged, feeling strangely uncomfortable. "It's not a big deal, Mac."

We ate in silence for a few minutes, watching the water.

I breathed out a sigh, relaxing under the warm sun. "This is beautiful. Any time you wanna take me out for a sail, I'm in."

"I'll be sure to do it more often."

We chatted about the marina and the progress of the workshop. After clearing it out, the contractors had started last week, which meant Gunnar and Mac were now splitting their days between a hired workshop to do some small boat-building tasks and supporting updates and repairs to the marina.

Mac cleaned up, telling me to stay while he checked the boat over.

I did as he directed, stretching out on the rug, my body enjoying the sun and the gentle rocking under us. I woke an hour later to Mac reading a book beside me.

"Hey, sleeping beauty.” His lips curled into a smile, his eyes lighting. "Better?"

"Wonderful," I admitted feeling surprisingly rested. "Sorry about that."

He shrugged. "You wanna head back or go for a swim or…?"

I shifted, grimacing at the sweat that soaked my back. "A swim sounds great."

He marked his place in his book, dog-earring the corner of a page, then set it aside as he stood. I was about to follow but froze as his hands went to the bottom of his shirt, pulling it off and tossing it away.

Oh, MacDaddy.

Hefty. Heavy. Weighty. Girthy. These were the words that sprang to mind as I stared at Mac's chest. He was a mountain of a man, and I suddenly found an interest in climbing.

Stop it! Temporary, remember?

No matter how I tried to convince myself otherwise, I wanted him. Desperately.

"You coming?"

I whipped my dress over my head, throwing it away. Mac had seen me without clothes, but the way his gaze caressed my body felt almost… wicked.

"Last one to shore has to buy dinner," I yelled, running for the side of the yacht.
